As much of the AniFem team is both trans and based in the United States, we can’t help but be highly aware of the current legal precariousness that surrounds our daily lives. To that end, we’ve attempted to put together a list of resources for those feeling a similar sense of fear and powerlessness, in order to emphasize that we can and must protect one another as systems of power not only fail but persecute us. In addition to the resources below, we encourage you to check out previous resource posts on trans legal advocates and Texas-specific resources. This is far from an exhaustive list, particularly in regards to regional centers of support, so we invite you all to add your knowledge to ours.

Emergency and Personal Safety Support

This site has advocacy initiatives and general fact sheets for teachers, parents, and those who want to be there for the kids in their life. Subjects range from support guides like the “Trans-Affirming Schools Project Resource Guide” and “Creating Safer Spaces for LGBTQ Youth” to looks at more specific communities and issues (i.e. Black trans youths in sports  and sexual violence affecting API trans youths), educational sheets on key legal issues (puberty blockers and anti-discrimination laws), and advice on how young people can advocate for themselves when working alongside adults.
