You have my shield… but not my axe!
Earlier today, the official The Rising of The Shield Hero anime website updated with a new trailer and visual, as well as several cast members.
We break the details down below.
Trailer
The 90-second promo offers a look at the show in action, as character dialogue provides the main story beats. Theme song Rise by Madkid kicks in at the 26-second mark.
Key Visual
The image features the show’s three leads, set in front of a starry background.
Cast
The series will add the following:

The Rising of the Shield Hero will hit Japanese TV on January 9. The full première schedule is as follows:
- AT-X: 1/9/2018 at 22:00 (1/9/2018 at 10:00PM)
- Tokyo MX: 1/9/2018 at 25:05 (1/10/2018 at 1:05AM)
- TV Aichi: 1/9/2018 at 26:35 (1/10/2018 at 2:35AM)
- KBS Kyoto: 1/9/2018 at 25:05 (1/10/2018 at 1:05AM)
- Sun TV: 1/9/2018 at 25:30 (1/10/2018 at 1:30AM)
- TVQ Kyushu: 1/9/2018 at 26:35 (1/10/2018 at 2:35AM)

The series will debut with a two-hour special, and is slated to run for two cours. Crunchyroll will stream the show as it airs in Japan.
The title adapts Aneko Yusagi and illustrator Minami Seira’s novel series of the same name. Takao Abo (Norn9) will direct the project at Kinema Citrus, with Masahiro Suwa providing character designs. Keigo Koyanagi is in charge of series composition.
The confirmed voice cast includes:

Kadokawa describes the title as:
Naofumi, an ordinary student, is summoned into another world as a ‘Shield Hero‘. What is waiting for him in this world? The popular novel series is being adapted into an anime!
