Something tells me that things aren’t going to be too morose this season.
Earlier today, the official Twitter account for music group mono palette announced that they will perform the opening theme song for The Morose Mononokean Sequel (Fukigen na Mononokean Tsuzuki). The four-member group will perform their first single, Long Time Traveller, for the show.
The Morose Mononokean will return to Japanese TV in January 2019.
Itsuro Kawasaki (L/R: Licensed by Royalty, Magical Girl Ore) will direct the new season at studio Pierrot Plus, with Takao Yoshioka (Elfen Lied, Watamote) taking charge of series composition.
The series will star the following:
- Hanae Ashiya: Yuuki Kaji
- Haruitsuki Abeno: Tomoaki Maeno
Both actors are reprising their roles from the first season.
The Morose Mononokean is based on Kiri Wazawa’s manga of the same name. Akira Iwanaga (Tegami Bachi: Letter Bee, Corpse Party: Missing Footage) directed the first season, which aired in the Summer 2016 broadcast season, at Pierrot Plus. Atsuko Kageyama provided character designs, while Takao Yoshioka (Elfen Lied, Watamote) took charge of series composition.
Funimation released the title on the west on Blu-Ray and DVD. They describe the show as:
Ashiya Hanae’s life is turned upside down when he’s possessed by a yokai! His only help comes in Abeno Haruitsuki, a handsome young man known as the “Master of the Mononokean.” But his aid comes at a price, one that has Ashiya working as his assistant to pay it off! Can they stop bickering with each other long enough to help the yokai trapped in this world?
