On March 24, Netflix announced that a new The Disastrous Life of Saiki K. is in the works. The project will be produced as a Netflix Original, with studios Egg Firm and J.C. Staff producing the animation. Detailed staff and premiere details will be announced at a later date.
During a stage show at AnimeJapan, it was confirmed that Shintarō Asanuma will reprise his role as Kusuo Saiki, while Ai Kayano will return as Kokomi Teruhashi.
The first The Disastrous Life of Saiki K. received three seasons. Hiroaki Sakurai (Cromartie High School, Maid Sama!) directed the project at studios Egg Firm and J.C. Staff. Masayuki Onji (Aria the Avvenire, Cromartie High School) provided character designs for the project.
Funimation currently holds the rights to the first The Disastrous Life of Saiki K. anime. They describe the show as:
Saiki Kusuo is a typical 16-year-old high school student… except he has psychic powers. He can use them to get whatever he wants, but he also knows everything that people are thinking. Everything. No surprises, no secrets, no normal human experiences. He’s kept his powers in check since childhood, but with the temptations of high school now on his mind, he’s bending the rules—and spoons.
