Earlier today, the official Fragtime anime website announced that the the team has been unable to reach production studio Tear Studio. According to the site, the crew has been trying to contact Tear Studio, without success. The updated added that the production will continue making attempts to reach out to their contact within the studio, for the time being.
The studio’s website briefly went offline on Monday, though the site is partially back online. The company’s social media accounts are currently offline. Anime News Network reports that Gen Sato, who worked on the project, took to Twitter to announce that a studio closed suddenly and deleted its social media accounts, adding that he hadn’t been paid for his work. Sato added in a later post that he is considering a class-action lawsuit with several other colleagues who were reportedly not paid.
Tear Studio opened its doors on March 15, 2013 in Suginami, Tokyo, Japan. The studio, which is run under the name “Next Batter’s Circle,” was founded by current chairman Jun Katō. Since they began operation, the studio worked on Lord of Vermilion: The Crimson King, The Royal Tutor, Why the Hell Are You Here, Teacher?!, and Fragtime, among others.
