Virtual reality: not even once. (OK, maybe once!)
Earlier today, the official Sword Art Online: Alicization anime website updated with a new teaser trailer, as well as details on the show’s theme songs and a premiere schedule.
We break the details down below.
Trailer
The 90-second promo introduces the main concepts behind the series, while the opening and closing themes play as background tracks. Character dialogue drives the major story beats.
Premiere
Sword Art Online: Alicization will hit Japanese TV on October 6. Comic Natalie and the Animate Times report that the show will run for four cours. The full schedule is as follows (All times JST):
- Tokyo MX: 10/6/2018 at 24:00 (10/7/2018 at Midnight)
- Tochigi TV: 10/6/2018 at 24:00 (10/7/2018 at Midnight)
- Gunma TV: 10/6/2018 at 24:00 (10/7/2018 at Midnight)
- BS11: 10/6/2018 at 24:00 (10/7/2018 at Midnight)
- MBS: 10/6/2018 at 27:08 (10/7/2018 at 3:08 AM)
- TV Aichi: 10/8/2018 at 26:05 (10/8/2018 at 2:05 AM)
Seven countries will host global premiere events, with Japanese and American events slated for September 15.
Manabu Ono (Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere, The irregular at magic high school) will direct the project at A-1 Pictures, with the team of Gou Suzuki (Oreimo 2, Minami-ke Natsuyasumi), Shingo Adachi (Megaman Star Force, Sword Art Online), and Tomoya Nishiguchi providing character designs. Yuki Kajiura is scoring the show’s soundtrack.
LiSA will perform opening theme song ADAMAS, while Eir Aoi provides closing theme Iris.
The confirmed voice cast includes:
- Asuna Yūki: Haruka Tomatsu
- Kazuto Kirigaya/Kirito: Yoshitsugu Matsuoka
- Alice Zuberg: Ai Kayano
- Eugeo: Nobunaga Shimazaki
Sword Art Online: Alicization will adapt the “Alicization” arc of the Sword Art Online light novels, which spans volumes 9 – 18.
