“Pet” Anime Gets New Trailer, Theme Song Artists

Earlier today, the official Pet anime website updated with a new teaser trailer and details on the show’s theme songs. We break the details down below.

The minute-long promo introduces the main plot concepts, with character dialogue driving the core story beats. Theme song Cho no Tobu Suiso kicks in as a background track at the 29-second mark.

Ling Tosite Sigure singer TK will perform opening theme Cho no Tobu Suiso.

Pet will hit Japanese TV oN January 6. The full broadcast schedule is as follows (All times JST):

  • Tokyo MX: 1/6/2020 at 22:00 (1/6/2020 at 10:00PM)
  • BS11: 1/6/2020 at 23:00 (1/6/2020 at 11:00PM)
  • AT-X: 1/6/2020 at 23:00 (1/6/2020 at 11:00PM)

Amazon will stream the series in worldwide on their Amazon Prime Video service.

Pet Anime VisualTakahiro Ōmori (Baccano!, Durarara!!) was tapped to direct Pet at Geno Studio, with Sadayuki Murai (Boogiepop Phantom, Knights of Sidonia) taking charge of series composition. Junichi Hayama (Locke the Superman: Mirror Ring, Votoms Finder) is providing character designs.

Twin Engine is listed as producing the show.

The confirmed voice cast includes:

  • Hiroki: Keisuke Ueda
  • Tsukasa: Kishō Taniyama
  • Satoru: Yuuki Ono
  • Hayashi: Yasuyuki Kase
  • Katsuragi: Shunsuke Sakuya
  • Jin: M.A.O
  • Ron: Koji Yusa
  • President: Nobuo Tobita

Amazon holds the digital rights to the project, and will stream the show exclusively on their platform in Japan and abroad.

Ranjō Miyake’s Pet manga originally launched in Shogakukan’s Weekly Big Comic Spirits magazine in 2002. A five-volume Remastered edition was released by publisher Enterbrain in 2009.

The story revolves around people who possess the ability to infiltrate human minds and manipulate memories. Their powers have been used in the underworld for covering up accidents, assassinations, and all manner of crimes. But these powers not only destroy others’ spirits, but also corrupt the users’ own hearts…
