Ni no Kuni Anime Film Gets New Trailer & Key Visual

Earlier today, the official website for the Ni No Kuni film updated with a new teaser trailer and key visual. We break the details down below.

The 90-second promo introduces the film’s main characters, and previews the dialogue.

Key Visual

The image features Yū, Haru, and Kotona in the heart of a bustling city.

Ni no Kuni Movie Visual

Ni no Kuni opens on August 23.

Yoshiyuki Momose (Modest Heroes, Ghiblies) will direct the project at OLM, with Level 5’s Akihiro Hino (Layton Mystery Tanteisha: Katori no Nazotoki File, Mobile Suit Gundam AGE) writing the script. Composer Joe Hisaishi (Spirited Away, Nausicaa) will score the soundtrack.

The confirmed voice cast includes:

  • Kotona: Mei Nagano
  • Asha: Mei Nagano
  • Yoki: Mamoru Miyano
  • Gabaras: Kenjiro Tsuda
  • Velsa: Maaya Sakamoto
  • Saki: Maaya Sakamoto
  • Balton: Kouichi Yamadera
  • Danpo: Yuuki Kaji
  • King Flanders: Masatō Ibu
  • Mysterious Man: Tsuyoshi Muro

Actor and model Kento Yamazaki as YuNi No Kuni is based on the video game series of the same name. The first game, Ni no Kuni: Dominion of the Dark Djinn, launched on Nintendo’s DS handheld in December 2010, and sold more than 500,000 units in Japan. The second game, Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, launched in November 2011 on Sony’s Playstation 3 console, and received a western release in early 2013. The entry was universally acclaimed, and moved more than move million units in its lifetime.

Sequel game Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom debuted on Sony’s PlayStation 4 console and Microsoft Windows on March 23, 2018.
