Yo no Hate de Koi o Utau Shōjo YU-NO was first released on the PC-98, where it received critical acclaim. 5pb. later ported the title to the Sega Saturn in 1997, followed by a PC release in 2000.
The title received a remake by MAGES and 5pb., which hit Sony’s PlayStation 4 and Vita in March. The remake saw both the PS4 and Vita SKUs land on the Media Create charts in its début week. The PS4 version of the game took top honors at 13th place, with 9,629 units sold. The Vita version wasn’t far behind, though, and placed at 15th with 8,858 sales. Combined the two SKUs shifted 18,487 copies.
In 1999, the game was adapted to an adults-only (read: hentai) OVA series in 1999. The title, which was produced by Pink Pineapple, ran for four episodes. NuTech Digital released the title in the west.
