Earlier today, Funimation announced that they will add Kono Oto Tomare!: Sounds of Life to their Spring 2019 simulcast lineup. The series will launch on FunimationNow on April 6, at 1:30PM Eastern (10:30AM Pacific). Funimation is also planning to produce a SimulDub for the show, which will premiere on April 27, at 4:00PM Eastern (1:00PM Pacific).
The series will be available to subscribers in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand.
The show will be directed by Ryōma Mizuno at Platinum Vision, with Junko Yamanaka (Kamisama Kiss, ReLIFE) providing character designs. Ayumu Hisao (Devils’ Line) is in charge of series composition.
Shouta Aoi will perform the opening theme song, titled Tone.
Funimation describes Kono Oto Tomare! as:
Down to its last member, the koto club will accept anyone who is interested in the traditional Japanese instrument. But when a delinquent and a prodigy player sign up, finding harmony isn’t going to be easy—especially not with ensemble competitions looming around the corner. With enough time and some incredible skill at the strings, perhaps this motley crew can strike a chord with the judges.
Amyū’s Kono Oto Tomare! manga launched in the pages of Shueisha’s Jump SQ magazine in 2012. The ongoing series currently spans nineteen volumes, with the latest shipping to stores on December 4.
