Earlier today, Crunchyroll announced that the creators of the Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma manga will attend this year’s Crunchyroll Expo. Yuto Tsukuda and Shun Saeki, as well as Food Wars! anime producer Noriko Dohi will attend the event as guests. At the convention, the three will host a pair of panels, as well as autograph sessions.
One of the panels will include a preview for the fourth season of the Food Wars! anime.
Yuto Tsukuda has been active in the industry since 2006. He earned the Jump Manga Rookie Award competition in 2006 with Kiba ni Naru, which made its formal debut in the Summer 2006 issue of Akamaru Jump magazine. His first serialized work, Shonen Shikku, launched in 2010 and ran through Issue #40 2010.
Shun Saeki made his debut in the industry in 2011 with one-shot Kimi to Watashi no Renai Soudan, which launched in the Spring 2012 issue of Jump NEXT! magazine.
Crunchyroll Expo will be held from August 30 through September 1 at the San Jose Convention Center.
The Food Wars!: Shokugeki no Soma manga launched in the pages of Weekly Shonen Jump in 2012. The series, which concluded on June 17, spans thirty-six compiled volumes. Viz Media holds the rights to the title, which they describe as:
Soma Yukihira’s old man runs a small family restaurant in the less savory end of town. Aiming to one day surpass his father’s culinary prowess, Soma hones his skills day in and day out until one day, out of the blue, his father decides to enroll Soma in a classy culinary school!
Can Soma really cut it in a place that prides itself on a 10 percent graduation rate? And can he convince the beautiful, domineering heiress to the school that he belongs there at all?!
The title spawned an anime adaptation, which kicked off in April 2015, and ran for 24 episodes. Yoshitomo Yonetani (Nurse Witch Komugi, Tiger & Bunny The Movie -The Rising-) directed the series at J.C. Staff, while Tomoyuki Shitaya (Bakuman, Kiss×sis) provided character designs. Scripts were provided by Shinichi Inotsume and Shogo Yasukawa.
The most recent season, Food Wars! The Third Plate, ran for two cours, with the most recent running in the Spring 2018 broadcast season.
Sentai Filmworks holds the rights to the Food Wars! anime.
