The final 50-hour stretch of our crowdfunding campaign has begun! (If you haven’t already, please contribute now!)
To continue our mission of serving underrepresented fans and paying everyone we work with fairly, AniFem needs to make a lot more money… But it’s essential that we do so in a way that stays true to our intersectional feminist roots.
Many of you have had fair and thoughtful questions about how we’re going to achieve this. To answer you, here is our complete and transparent three-year vision and strategy.
As with any vision and strategy, this is all subject to change as we take in community feedback and our own circumstances evolve, but you can see clearly what I’m thinking and where we’re headed.
Anime Feminist is not, and was never meant to be, a charity. At the same time, it is also not a corporation designed to line the pockets of its shareholders (that would be me, and I can tell you now that ‘start a feminist website for anime fans and pay everyone else who works on it’ would be a terrible get-rich-quick scheme).
Instead, Anime Feminist is a social enterprise, designed to make more and more money so that we can do more and more good within capitalist structures. Fundraising for a charity is hard, and it is endless. Being a for-profit company means we can work towards a time when AniFem doesn’t need to fundraise ever again (more detail in the strategy document above!).
As you can see, we have big plans to do a lot of good and provide many, many more paying jobs to our community – but it all starts with the current crowdfunding campaign, which will end on:
Saturday 29th December
00:00 North America PST
03:00 North America EST
08:00 United Kingdom GMT (UTC)
09:00 Central Europe CET
16:00 Australia AWST
17:00 Japan JST
19:00 Australia AEDT
21:00 New Zealand NZDT
At the time of writing we have just under 50 hours to meet our final stretch goals, which are detailed in the presentation.
We’re currently just $2,269 from our next stretch goal, the $25,000 we need to open an online shop and design our first range of merchandise for sale.
Many of you have already contributed, and we couldn’t be more grateful. As such, all we’re asking you to do now is something that costs no money and just a few minutes of your time.
It would help us out enormously if every one of you could share our campaign page link (https://www.animefeminist.com/crowdfunding) with your personal endorsement.
Explaining to your network why you want us to meet our goal not only makes it significantly more effective, but gives us a testimonial we can share too.
And now you have three years of AniFem ambition to choose from – are you most excited about us publishing books, or running conventions? Are you most looking forward to AniFem products you can wear to work, or use to decorate your home?
Share our campaign page with your personal endorsement now, and help us meet our final goals before our campaign closes in two days!
