Earlier today, the official website for the Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna anime film announced that five Digimon anime shorts are in the works. The projects are being produced as part of a celebration for Digimon Adventure’s twentieth anniversary.
The five shorts include:
- Sora e (To the Sky)
- Kokoro no Ana (A Hole in the Heart)
- Igakusei Joe Kido (Joe Kido, Medical Student)
- Akogare no Jogress Shinka (The Coveted Jogress Evolution)
One “secret” title is also planned. The plots will include side stories that focus on the DigiDestined and their partners in their everyday lives, as well as a prequel for the upcoming Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna movie.
The five shorts will be offered as a backer bonus for an upcoming “Booster” crowdfunding campaign, which kicks off on August 22. The campaign seeks to raise ten million yen ($93,910.00 USD). If the goal isn’t reached, the campaign will still progress in some form, though details have not been announced.
Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna opens on February 21, 2020.
Tomohisa Taguchi (Kino’s Journey – the Beautiful World-, Persona 3 the Movie #2 Midsummer Knight’s Dream) will direct the project at Yumeta Company, with Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru (Dragon Ball GT, Halo Legends) providing character designs.
