RWBY is a web cartoon series, which was created by the late Monty Oum for Rooster Teeth. The series, which launched on July 18, 2013, currently spans seventy-nine episodes. The title has received numerous comic spin-offs, including a 15-chapter series by Shirow Miwa, which ran in Weekly Shonen Jump from November 2015 through February 2017.
Rooster Teeth describes RWBY as:
The future-fantasy world of Remnant is filled with ravenous monsters, treacherous terrain, and more villains than you can shake a sniper-scythe at. Fortunately, Beacon Academy is training Huntsmen and Huntresses to battle the evils of the world, and Ruby, Weiss, Blake, and Yang are ready for their first day of class.
