Cool Japan Fund Invests $30M Into Sentai Holdings, LLC

Sentai Filmworks LogoEarlier today, Sentai Filmworks announced that the Cool Japan fund invested $30 million in the organization, in exchange for shares. Through the investment, Cool Japan also hopes to grow anime’s presence in the United States, while providing aid “at the copyright level.”

According to the announcement, the Cool Japan Fund considers Sentai to be “of maor importance,” and aims to support “medium- to long-term growth in the Japanese animation industry as a whole” via their backing.

Sentai Holdings CEO John Ledford commented on the news, stating “We are extremely proud of the work we’ve done at Sentai to bring great anime storytelling, experiences, characters and collectibles to fans around the world for more than a decade […] The investment by Cool Japan Fund allows us to further our potential by expanding and deepening our long-running support of the Japanese anime industry.”

Sentai Holdings, LLC is the parent company of Sentai Filmworks and HIDIVE, among other organizations.

Sentai Filmworks is a Houston, Texas based organization that was founded in 2008 by ADV Films co-founder John Ledford.
