Here I am… on the road again. Here I am, up on the way (to school)!
Earlier today, the official Chio’s School Road (Chio-chan no Tsūgakuro) anime website updated with a new key visual, as well as details on the show’s theme songs. We break the details down below.
Key Visual
The image features the titular Chio front and center, surrounded by a gaggle of quirky individuals that include a bokken-wielding adult, a ninja-flipping woman, an old-timey girl with a finger-gun, and a giant fish.
Theme Songs
The opening theme song will be performed by Naomi Ōzora, Chiaki Omigawa, and Kaede Hondo. The closing theme will be tackled by just Naomi Ōzora and Chiaki Omigawa.
Neither song has been titled as of press time, though they will receive CD singles that hit stores on July 25.
Chio’s School Road will hit Japanese TV in July. The title was originally slated to air in April, though it was delayed. Kadokawa first announced the title in July 2017.
Takayuki Inagaki (Rosario + Vampire, First Love Monster) is pulling double duty at diomedia as both director and head of series composition. Mayuko Matsumoto (KanColle, Handa-kun) is providing character designs for the project.
The series will star the following:
- Chio Miyamo: Naomi Ōzora
- Manana Nonomura: Chiaki Omigawa
- Yuki Hosokawa: Kaede Hondo
- Madoka Kushitori: Yō Taichi
Kadokawa describes the project as:
Arriving at a school just as usual is a miracle!
Gangs at the construction site, sudden desire to urinate… The high school student Chio has to face all kinds of troubles!
The extreme comedy is now being adapted into an anime!
Chio’s School Road kicked off in the pages of Media Factory’s Monthly Comic Flapper magazine in May 2014. To date, six collected volumes have been produced, with the most recent hitting stores on March 23.
Kadokawa previously released twenty-seven screenshots for Chio’s School Road, which you can check out below.
