Earlier today, the official Boogiepop And Others (Boogiepop wa Warawanai, lit. “Boogiepop Doesn’t Laugh”) anime website announced that the project will receive a two-hour TV special. The special, which adapts the sixth light novel Boogiepop at Dawn, will consist of episodes 10 – 13. The full airing schedule is as follows:
- 2/23/2019: AT-X
- 2/24/2019: Tokyo MX
- 2/24/2019: Sun TV
- 2/24/2019: BS11
- 2/25/2019: KBS Kyoto
- 3/1/2019: TV Aichi (Episodes 10 & 11)
- 3/8/2019: TV Aichi (Episodes 12 & 13)
The first three episodes adapted the first novel. The series is currently adapting novels 2 & 3: Boogiepop Vs. Imaginator, and will eventually adapt fifth novel Boogiepop Overdrive: The Piper.
Boogiepop and Others hit Japanese TV on January 4. Crunchyroll and Funimation are streaming the show as part of their Winter 2019 simulcast lineups.
Shingo Natsume (Space Dandy, One Punch Man) is directing the Boogiepop and Others anime at Madhouse, with Hidehiko Sawada providing character designs. Tomohiro Suzuki (ACCA: 13-Territory Inspection Dept.) is in charge of series composition and scripts for the project.

Takeda Keiji was waiting for his girlfriend and junior in school, Miyashita Touka. But she doesn’t show up at the time they agreed on and he can’t get a hold of her. The sun starts to set and Takeda decides to give up and head home. But then, he sees a man unsteadily wandering around with tears in his eyes. Takeda and the other people around him quickly realize the man is not normal and decide to ignore him when a mysterious figure approaches the man. A mysterious figure wearing a cape and a bizarre hat. That figure happened to have the same face as Miyashita Touka, the girlfriend who ditched Takeda…
