So, the vermilion shall bring pestilence of a new sort.
Earlier today, the official Aragne: Sign of Vermilion (Aragne no Mushikago) anime film’s website updated with details on the film’s Japan première. On July 13, a new trailer for the feature also hit the web.
We break the details down below.
Trailer
The two-minute trailer offers a look at the film in action. Theme song Sono Uso ni Chikai (Close to That Lie) by Memai SIREN kicks in at the 52-second mark.
Premiere
Aragne no Mushikago hits Japanese theaters on August 18. The film made its world première during Montreal, Canada’s Fantasia Festival on July 15.
The feature is based on an original concept by Saku Sakamoto, who directed, produced, wrote, and composed the film’s music. The confirmed voice cast includes:
- Rin: Kana Hanazawa
- Nasuha: Ayana Shiramoto
- Saion: Fukujurō Katayama
- Mikaya: Shōgo Batori
- Tokiyo: Yōsuke Itō
The Fantasia Festival describes the movie as:
Life could be better for shy, anxious university student Rin. The apartment she has rented is hardly the sunny palace the rental listings suggested. The housing complex is rundown, grim and haunted by troubled souls lurking in dark corners. Ghastly crimes are occurring in the vicinity. And a grinning stranger makes his unsettling presence known. Beyond all this, Rin is coming to realize that something even more sinister is manifesting itself, something at the cursed crossroads of mythology, monstrosity and medical science. Determined to find out more, Rin visits the library, where she meets a sympathetic young staffer. But what she learns does not begin to put her mind at ease.
