Prepare to have your heart ripped out in the best way possible… er… again!
Earlier today, Aniplex of America announced that they will produce an English dub for March comes in like a lion‘s second season. The confirmed voice cast includes:
- Akari Kawamoto: Laura Post
- Rei Kiriyama: Kwoi Dao
- Hinata Kawamoto: Kayli Mills
- Momo Kawamoto: Xanthe Huynh
Wendee Lee is directing the adaptation. All four actors named are reprising their roles from the first season.
In addition, Aniplex is partnering with Bang Zoom! to host an open audition at Anime Central. Winners will receive a role in the series. Those who participate will receive a March comes in like a lion button that features the shogi cats.
March comes in like a lion‘s second season started airing on October 14, 2017. The show saw several staffers returning at studio SHAFT. Akiyuki Shinbo (Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Monogatari series) returned to the director’s chair, while Nobuhiro Sugiyama (Nisekoi, Arakawa Under the Bridge) reprised his role as character designer.
Aniplex describes the new season as:
As a child, professional shogi player and high school student, Rei Kiriyama, lost his family in an accident. We meet Rei living on his own in Tokyo, despondent and still burdened by a profound sense of loneliness. One day, Rei meets three sisters named Akari, Hinata, and Momo. Little by little, they, with the help of his self-declared best-friend and shogi rival, Nikaido, open Rei’s world and his heart.
March comes in like a lion is a heartfelt tale about various people recovering that “something” they have lost as they discover that life is both a journey and a battlefield.
