Aikatsu Friends! Gets New Anime Project In April 2019

On January 27, the official Aikatsu! anime website announced that the franchise will get a new anime TV series. The project, titled Aikatsu Friends! ~Kagayaki no Jewel~, is slated to air in April 2019. The title will launch along with the upcoming Aikatsu! ~Kagayaki no Jewel~ Data Carddass game, which hits game centers in March.

A new visual for the project was also revealed, along with the first confirmed cast members. We break the details down below.

The image features lead characters Aine Yūki and Mio Minato, as well as new characters Hibiki Tenshō and Alicia Charlotte.

The confirmed voice cast includes:

  • Aine Yūki: Akane Matsunaga
  • Mio Minato: Ibuki Kido
  • Alicia Charlotte: Saori Ōnishi
  • Hibiki Tenshō: Yoko Hikasa

The title will be set two years after the original Aikatsu Friends! anime, as Mio and Aine enter high school. Aine’s life is forever changed once again, when she encounters the mysterious Hibiki Tenshō: an idol who wears the magical Jeweling Dress.

Aikatsu Friends! first aired in the Spring 2018 broadcast season. Tatsuya Igarashi (Armored Trooper Votoms Case;Irvine, Unlimited Psychic Squad) was tapped to direct the project at Bandai Namco Pictures, with Satomi Watanabe providing character designs. Yuuko Kakihara (Cells at Work!, Digimon Adventure tri.) was in charge of series composition for the title.
